Based on 998 reviewsBully Ranch Restaurant in Vail is widely praised for its flavorful American fare, particularly its burgers, nachos, and unique offerings like chickpea burgers. The venue’s rustic ranch-style decor adds to its inviting atmosphere, making it a popular spot for both casual meals and larger gatherings. Customers frequently highlight the friendly and attentive service, as well as efficient accommodations for big parties. While pricing is noted to be on the higher side, the overall quality of food and experience justifies the cost for many. Its convenient location near the slopes and connection to the hotel bar also make it an appealing choice for visitors looking to unwind after outdoor activities.
Bully Ranch is hands-down the spot in Vail for burgers and nachos...oh and the TOTS are sooo good. If that’s what you’re craving, nothing else really comes close. Big flavors, perfectly done, and exactly what you want after a day on the mountain—especially when you can wash it all down with a quick beer. If burgers or nachos are on your radar, this is where you’ve gotta go.
We found this place last minute, after figuring out how much the off season limits availability of restaurants. That said, our experience tonight will probably have us back here, even when more restaurants are back open! We were greeted and seated quickly. The menu provided a lot of delicious options… so being hungry made the decision process more challenging. Our server recommended lots of favorites, highlighting the wings, the bourbon burger, and the fried chicken sandwich. We selected the burger and the chicken sandwich. The food was delicious and served faster than expected. Lots of “layers” to flavor and attention to quality ingredients. A great experience!
This restaurant was nice. I loved the ranch style decor and wood they decorated it with. This restaurant does require reservations. This restaurant pricing was higher than we were anticipating. It was good food and the service was great!
This place takes you somewhere else, very good service, good food and you can re connect to the hotel bar.
Really awesome place to grab some dinner after a day in the slopes! The chickpea burger was the only thing I was craving and it did not disappoint! They were also able to accommodate our very large party effortlessly!
Loved this place. Everything we had was great. The Truffle Tots, Coca Cola Ribs, Bully Burger, Pizza, Nachos, Wings, and of course the Sticky Toffee Pudding. This place delivered everytime we ate there(3). The best things we ate were the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie. Would highly recommend and will go again if ever back in Vail.
Everyone loved their food. Ribs had a great sauce and meat fell off the bone (they even give you a bone bowl), burger, chicken sandwich, and wings. And the mudslide drink is noteworthy. Our server was lackluster and perhaps assigned more tables than he could keep up with. I was quite put off by the gum stuck under my chair that I touched when sliding my chair in—they really should check all the chairs for this regularly. The food was great even though the other stuff could use improvement. I did notice the water staff and other servers were doing a great job, so would expect improved service if coming back again, which we would as the food was great, but won’t grab the chair very closely next time… I like that they take reservations. You can valet park your car for a fee or just park in vail public parking and walk.
Outstanding Food & Service - A Vail Gem Worth Visiting ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My family visited from out of state and chose Bully Ranch at the Sonnenalp Hotel for dinner, and I’m so glad they did. We booked a 4:30pm reservation, which seemed like the only available slot online—though once we arrived, the restaurant was quite empty and didn’t fill up until closer to 6pm. This appears to be more of a scheduling platform quirk than an actual capacity issue, as there were plenty of tables available for walk-ins. Once seated, the service was attentive throughout our meal. We started with the truffle tots and pulled pork nachos—both were generously portioned and perfect for sharing. The nachos were piled so high with what had to be a pound of pulled pork, guacamole, and sauces that we actually needed extra chips to finish everything at the bottom of the bowl! For mains, our table tried the Cobb salad and ribs. The ribs were phenomenal—flavorful, tender, and even the half rack felt substantial with mac & cheese and coleslaw on the side. Portion sizes across the board were impressive. The only minor issue: the sodas ($5 each) tasted off, clearly a soda machine problem that night. Beyond that, the value for money was excellent, and we never felt rushed or pressured to leave. Tip for future diners: Don’t be deterred by limited online availability—there seems to be more capacity than the reservation system suggests. Early slots might actually give you a quieter, more relaxed dining experience. Would absolutely return.
